Capital Campaign
The Need
The Mendenhall Homeplace is one of North Carolina’s most important historic sites, but its facilities are strained. Several buildings require urgent restoration, archives lack proper climate control, and outdated infrastructure limits accessibility and programming. Without investment, both structures and artifacts are at risk.
This campaign can protect these treasures and create spaces that welcome more visitors, support education, and position Jamestown as a cultural destination. With the appropriate resources, HJS will preserve the past and inspire the future.
The Plan
To meet these needs, Historic Jamestown Society teamed up with Freeman Kennett Architects to create a plan for the future. The plan, shaped by community input and expert guidance, combines preservation with new ways for people to learn, gather, and celebrate Jamestown’s story.
